Health care experts say the fee-for-service payment model can’t meet the needs of people with open wounds and diabetes.

The fee-for-service payment model, which dominates healthcare, doesn’t meet what needs to be done to properly treat people with open wounds and diabetes, experts said this week.

At an industry event put on by life sciences trade group LifeScience Alley in downtown Minneapolis Wednesday, experts said they the hope that health care reform will spur the government and private insurers to compensate in different ways and that, in turn, could spur innovation.
